Frequently Asked Questions

Where are decorative films installed?

Decorative window films are ideally suited for applications that require day or night privacy without sacrificing natural light levels in both commercial and residential applications. Commercial applications are found in banks, restaurants, health clubs, hotel foyers, conference rooms and office partitioning. Commercial buildings are dramatically increasing the use of internal glass walls as partitioning. This brings natural light into offices creating greater work productivity, as well as the illusion of more space while offering privacy. Residential applications include solariums, bathrooms, entry doors and sidelights, etc.

How do I maintain my windows, after having window tint installed?

Wait 30 days and then simply clean windows as you normally would, using standard window cleaning solution and soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials that may scratch or damage the film. If possible use non-ammonia based window cleaners.

How long does it take for my window film to "dry"?

Depending on weather conditions and the film type, it can take up to 30 sometimes even 45 days for the film to fully dry and cure. During this time, you may notice small water bubbles and/or a hazy appearance. This is normal and will disappear as the film dries. Once completely dry, your window film will be virtually undetectable and will look great for years to come, as if the glass originally had the pattern/style you choose.

How long will my decorative film last?

This depends on the location you are going to install (bathroom, living room, air conditioned room or not...), and where are you living, but in general 3-5 years is normal. When not exposed to sunlight or excessive U.V. decorative films last beyond 10 years.

Does decorative film prevent fading, and block UV rays?

Not particularly. The film is primarily for decoration and privacy purposes. It is important to understand there are multiple causes for fading, UV rays, visible light, infrared rays, heat, and our films do not reduce all of them significantly. Certain decorative films do block UV rays, while others do not. When choosing your pattern, please let us know if UV blocking is important to you.

Does decorative film give both Daytime & Nighttime Privacy?

Almost all of our films provide privacy during the night, as well as the day. The level of privacy varies from film to film. Obviously, films with a clear/transparent background will not provide as much privacy as frosted films. If you have any questions about the level of privacy a film provides, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Will my film fade and bubble?

Over 3-5 years you may see the coloring of the decorative film has changed, or faded. Like everything in contact with the sun's heat and light fading will occur overtime. Excessive fading, or bubbling is covered under the manufactures warranty.

How is the window film installed?

Window film is professionally installed by our well-trained installer. Most all decorative films are designed to be installed on the inside of your windows or glass doors.

The first step is preparation which includes thoroughly cleaning the windows and the immediate surrounding work space – this could require moving furniture, removing window treatments and protecting the flooring below. Then the film is sprayed with a specially formulated mounting solution to allow it to be properly positioned on the glass. Using professional tools and techniques, we will then form the film to the glass surface being sure to remove any excess water. We'll then trim the edges of the film for a perfect fit and complete the process with a final squeegee technique to ensure the film is in place.

Can Decorative Film be installed on a shower door?

Yes- but it is recommended the film is installed on the outside of the door, and it must be on a flat glass surface.

Does decorative film be removed?

Yes. Unlike other decorative glass processes, decorative window films can be removed if desired. This of course is a huge advantage and most landlords do not object to their tenants' installation of film when they find out the product can be removed. To remove decorative films simply peel away the film from one corner and pull the film from the glass. Should any adhesive remain on the glass it can easily be removed with a spray of soapy water and a single edge razor blade.
